During the exciting festivities associated with Halloween, lots of people seek out the best Halloween horror mask in order to scare their friends and family. A few months prior to Halloween, people research both online and offline for that perfect horror mask.  The mask of the Halloween costume is the most important piece of the outfit for it represents the specified outcome of who is wearing it. Occasionally, costumes don't give you a clue to what the horror character is but the horror mask is always a perfect giveaway.   The styles of horror masks continue to alter, as they have over the years. The History of the horror masks varies from one horror character to another.  For example, the Witch Masks have an interesting and dark historical past. Europeans used to believe that witches gathered twice a year during two particular dates -- which oddly enough, coincided with Celtic festivals Beltane and Samhain -- and cause chaos for innocent residents. These types of witches would ride on their wooden broomsticks and celebrate with the Devil, sometimes casting evil spells upon unsuspecting residents. With the increase of Christianity, Christians became terrified of these wicked witches, branding Halloween a holiday of the Devil. Christians also blamed the black plague on witches because they thought they cast spells.  Throughout the first immigration in the early 1700s, European settlers introduced those witchy beliefs with them. Native Americans believed in witches too, so that belief never died out. By the 1900s, when Halloween was turned into a suitable, non-pagan holiday, children wore horror masks for fun.   The earliest history of werewolves is evidenced in medieval mythology. Legend goes that Lycoan and his fifty sons tried to entertain the god Zeus with a satisfying dish of human flesh. Disgusted, they were converted into werewolves. Another passage says that poor Lycaon scarified a child to the infamous Zeus on top of Mount Lycaeus. After the child was sacrificed, he was converted into a werewolf.  Werewolf folk literature was uncontrolled throughout Europe, so when immigrants moved to America, they brought that hairy tale with them. Americans seemingly forgot this hairy history until John Landis created a film called An American Werewolf in London. This film inspired pop legend Michael Jackson, who changed into a werewolf zombie in his legendary music video Thriller. Millions of fans later, children frequently wear Werewolf Masks during Halloween, wishing to spook a neighbor. Thanks to the classic Halloween Horror Film Friday The 13th, where Jason Voorhees drowns in a lake, and returns from the dead wearing his hockey mask while terrorizing the children of the camp, children continue to wear hockey masks for Halloween to emulate the horrible Jason Voorhees (just like his Halloween counterpart Michael Myers)
